How to install a forum skin

On this page you will find a short instruction on how to install a forum skin for vBulletin.

You should have the following:

  1. Folder with images
  2. XML file; vbulletin-style.xml

Before installing your forum skin, you need to have vBulletin installed and be able to access the 'Styles & Templates' section of the admin control panel.

Install instructions

  1. Log in to the admin control panel of your vBulletin forum.
  2. Go to the 'Styles & Templates' -> 'Download / Upload Styles' page.
  3. Under the heading 'Import Style XML File', select the XML file by clicking the 'Browse...' button.
  4. Empty the second text field.
  5. Select 'No' for 'Ignore Style Version'.
  6. Type the title of your forum skin in the 'Title for Uploaded Style' text field.
  7. Select 'No Parent Style' from the dropdown menu.
  8. Fill in the display order, default value is 1.
  9. Allow user selection; if you select 'No', only administrators will be able to select this skin.
  10. Click the 'Import' button to install the forum skin.

Uploading images

The images folder should be uploaded inside the 'images' folder, which can be found in your vBulletin folder.

Uploading should be done through FTP or a file manager, the same way you have uploaded the files for your vBulletin installation.

Changing style settings

  1. Log in to the admin control panel of your vBulletin forum.
  2. Go to the 'vBulletin Options' -> 'vBulletin Options' page.
  3. Select 'Style & Language Settings' and click 'Edit Settings'.

Here you can change the default style, allow users to change styles and turn the legacy (vertical) postbit on.
